Thread-Watcher Terms of Service

Last Updated: 2026-04-12

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Thread-Watcher Discord bot and the threadwatcher.xyz website (collectively, the "Services"), operated by Jonathan Hermin ("familyfriendly"), doing business as BotSuite, based in Uppsala, Sweden.

By adding Thread-Watcher to your Discord server, interacting with the bot, or using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you are explicitly prohibited from using the services.

Eligibility

The Services are not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13, in accordance with Discord's own Terms of Service and GDPR Article 8. By using the Services you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

What Thread-Watcher Does

Thread-Watcher is a Discord bot that provides thread management, support ticket workflows, AI-powered conversation summaries, and related tools for Discord servers. A web dashboard is provided for server administrators to configure and manage the bot.

Permitted Use

You may use the Services for any lawful purpose consistent with Discord's Terms of Service. You must not use the Services to:

  • Collect or process data on users without their knowledge or consent
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or harm other users
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to exploit, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Services
  • Place unreasonable or disproportionate load on our infrastructure
  • Circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security measures

We reserve the right to determine what constitutes a violation of these terms at our sole discretion.

Server Administrator Responsibilities

Server administrators, defined as users with the Discord Administrator permission or a designated Bot Master role, are responsible for:

  • Ensuring their community members are informed that ticket conversations may be stored, summarized, and accessed by staff
  • Configuring the Services in accordance with applicable data protection laws in their jurisdiction
  • Using the Services in accordance with these Terms and Discord's Terms of Service

By enabling features such as ticket transcription or AI summarization, server administrators accept responsibility as the data controller for their users' data processed through these features. Thread-Watcher acts as a data processor on their behalf. This relationship is further described in our Privacy Policy.

Thread-Watcher Plus (Premium)

Some features of Thread-Watcher require a paid subscription called Thread-Watcher Plus ("TW+"). Subscriptions are managed and processed entirely through Discord's built-in subscription system. Thread-Watcher does not handle or store payment information directly.

AI credits are granted monthly to TW+ subscribers and in limited quantities to free servers. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. We reserve the right to adjust credit allocations, pricing, or included features with reasonable notice.

If a server's subscription lapses, premium features will cease to function. We do not offer refunds for unused credits or subscription periods, as refunds are handled by Discord directly.

Service Availability

We aim to keep the Services available at all times but make no guarantees of uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, push updates, or experience outages without prior notice. We are not liable for any loss, inconvenience, or damage caused by service interruption.

Termination

We reserve the right to remove Thread-Watcher from any server or restrict access to any user at our discretion, particularly in cases of abuse, violation of these Terms, or behaviour detrimental to the Services or other users. No refund or compensation will be provided in cases of termination due to a violation.

Server administrators may remove Thread-Watcher from their server at any time. Data retention following removal is described in our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

Thread-Watcher is open source software licensed under the MIT license. The source code is available at GitHub.

User Content

By sending messages, uploading files, or otherwise submitting content ("User Content") within a ticket thread, you affirm that you own the copyright to that content or have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it.

By submitting User Content through the Services, you grant Thread-Watcher a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license to store, reproduce, process, and transform your content solely for the purposes of providing and operating the Services. This includes but is not limited to storing ticket transcripts, generating AI summaries, and displaying content through the web dashboard.

This license does not transfer copyright ownership. You retain all ownership rights to your User Content. This license is limited strictly to what is necessary to provide the Services and does not grant us the right to use your content for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose beyond operating the Services as described in this document and our Privacy Policy.

We do not claim ownership of any User Content submitted through the Services.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Services will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or meet your specific requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Thread-Watcher and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Services, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or reputational harm, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uppsala, Sweden.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. For significant changes we will endeavour to notify server administrators via our support server.
